Murr Named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten announced its weekly women’s volleyball awards on Monday. Senior libero Kylie Murr was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season (previously Oct. 3) after the Buckeyes improved to 13-5 overall and 9-1 in conference play with wins against Illinois and Iowa last week.

Murr averaged more than 5.00 digs/set again this week (5.14) in wins against Illinois and Iowa, also leading the team’s non-setters in assists (6). In the sweep of Illinois, Murr had 12 digs and four assists. Murr had a season-high 24 digs against Iowa, also recording an ace and two assists.

This season, Murr has recorded at least 10 digs in 17 matches and surpassed the 20-dig plateau in three matches (all Big Ten). Her 4.15 digs per set ranks fourth in the Big Ten and she’s increased her production to 4.61 digs/set during conference play. Murr is second on the program’s all-time career digs list (1,675) and ranks eighth in program history in single-season digs/set (4.15).
