FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 14 Lewis University men’s volleyball team lost a long, hard-fought battle at Purdue Fort Wayne, 3-2, Thursday (April 4).

SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: Purdue Fort Wayne 25, Lewis 19
Purdue Fort Wayne used a 3-0 run to take a 4-2 lead early. Lewis used a 6-2 charge featuring three kills by Haber and a service ace by Baggs to go up 9-7.
The Mastodons kept things close and took back the lead by taking five of six points to make it 17-15. Later, a 4-0 push from Purdue Fort Wayne made it 22-17 Mastodons.
Lewis took two of the next three, but two straight kills ended the set for Purdue Fort Wayne.
Set 2: Purdue Fort Wayne 25, Lewis 21
Both sides traded points early in set two until the Mastodons used a 3-0 run to go ahead 9-6. The Flyers charged right back, taking the next four points with a couple kills by Drolsum to take a 10-9 advantage.
Purdue Fort Wayne used another 3-0 push to go up 12-10, and the teams traded points from there. Just like set one, the Mastodons later used a 4-0 run to bring the lead to 22-17.
Lewis later took two points in a row to get within three, 24-21, but Purdue Fort Wayne finished the set with a kill.
Set 3: Lewis 31, Ball State 29
The Flyers came out with urgency in set three, going up 7-2 with four early blocks, three involving Baggs. The Mastodons got back in it with a 4-1 run to make it 8-6.
Lewis later used a 4-1 run of its own, started with a pair of kills by Roquet and finished by an ace from Morgan, to go up 17-11. The Flyers got ahead by as much as eight points, at 22-14, before Purdue Fort Wayne charged back with a 7-0 run to tie it at 23.
Lewis reached set point seven times and held off a match point for the Mastodons once, before a Purdue Fort Wayne attack error gave the Flyers the set.
Set 4: Lewis 25, Purdue Fort Wayne 19
