NOLES END EAST VS WEST 3-1

Manhattan Beach, Calif. – The Florida State Seminoles closed out day two of the East vs West Invitational undefeated, with wins over No. 2 UCLA and No. 7 LMU.

 

FSU 3, No. 2 UCLA 2

The second meeting between these two teams ended in favor of the Noles. Audrey Koenig and Carra Sassack fought on court two but were unable to secure the dual point. The pair fell 21-19 in the first set and 21-11 in the second.

Raelyn White and Caitlin Moon also battled on court four but were unable to secure the victory. The pair dropped the first set a close 21-18 and UCLA rode that momentum to a 21-15 win in the second set, giving UCLA their second dual point.

Maddie Anderson and Paige Kalkhoff were ready for the Bruins this go around. The pair played great defensively which led to a 21-18 win in both the first and second set. This gave the Noles their first dual point of the match.

Alexis Durish and Makenna Wolfe continued their impressive pairing with a three-set win over UCLA. The first set went in favor of Durish and Wolfe with a 21-17 win. The second set went to the Bruins in extra points 22-20. The third set was back-and-forth but Durish and Wolfe pulled away at the end with great defensive play to win 15-12 tying up the dual point 2-2.

The match came down to Anna Long and Jordan polo on court three. The pair won the first set 21-18 but dropped the second set 21-16. The deciding third set came down to the wire, with UCLA not going down without a fight. Long and Polo held off the Bruin’s pair long enough to win 15-12. This win gave the Noles their clinching third dual point which won the match for the Seminoles.

 

FSU 4, No. 7 LMU 1

On court four Caitlin Moon and Raelyn White fought hard but fell to LMU 21-14 in the first set and 21-16 in the second set.

Carra Sassack and Audre Koenig came out swinging in their dual with an impressive 21-9 win in the first set. They traded blows with the Bruins in the second set before falling 21-16. The third set was a close one with both teams trading leads. The set ended with Moon and Sassack pulling through defensively to win 15-13.

Anna Long and Jordan Polo kept their momentum high after the UCLA win. The pair did not look back as they cruised to a 21-11 win in the first set and a 21-14 win in the second set, giving the Noles their second dual point.

Makenna Wolfe and Alexis Durish dominated on court five. The pair won the first set 21-10 and did not take their foot off the gas in the second set, winning…
