COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Northwestern volleyball team racked up 52 kills on the way to a three-set victory (25-22, 26-24, 25-13) against Western Carolina Saturday morning at the Eblen Center in Cookeville. The 6-0 start is the best of the Shane Davis era, and the program’s longest winning streak to start a season since the 2012 team started the season 11-0. The Catamounts fell to 5-2.
The Wildcats attack was paced by the duo Kathryn Randorf and Hanna Lesiak, who each had 12 kills. Defensively, NU had two players reach double figures in digs as Megan Miller had 15 and Ellee Stinson had a season-high 13. From the front row, Desiree Becker contributed six blocks for the second match in a row.

» Hanna Lesiak had a match-high three aces in the win, and hit .364.
» Desiree Becker had a match-high six blocks.
» Northwestern put together a strong attacking performance, notching 52 kills in the match, its second-highest total of the season.
» Northwestern attackers were helped by a match-high 41 assists from Alexa Rousseau.
» NU’s .375 hitting percentage is its second-highest of the season. The team has hit above .300 in each of the last four matches.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Wildcats took the first set 25-22 propelled by a solid performance on the attacking side. Northwestern registered a .371 attack percentage with 16 kills in the set victory. The Wildcats opened up a 21-13 lead in the stanza and coasted to victory from there.
SET 2 | Northwestern won the second set 26-24 to swiftly take a 2-0 lead. The Wildcats came out on top of a close second set, winning in a stanza that was tied seven times and had four lead changes. The Wildcats racked up 17 kills over the course of the set.
SET 3 | Northwestern then sealed the sweep with a victory in set number three. The Wildcats grabbed control of the set early when the score was 3-2 and held the lead the rest of the way to win 25-13. Northwestern led by as many as 12 points at 24-12 before…
