NOVAK DJOKOVIC AMONG GLOBAL SPORTING STARS AND DIGNITARIES WHO HELP TO LIGHT UP DAY TWO OF VOLLEYBALL AT THE OLYMPIC GAMES

The second day of the volleyball competition at South Paris Arena 1 was a thriller as more high-profile guests came to join the celebrations and excitement

Tennis legend and one of the most decorated athletes of all time, Novak Djokovic, made a notable appearance, attending to support Serbia’s men’s team in their highly anticipated match against France. As he and his family were presented with the souvenir volleyballs, Djokovic’s joined the crowd in cheering at every thrilling moment, of which there were many, as fans got to watch a sporting hero off the court while their favourite teams battled fiercely on it.

After his visit yesterday, the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, returned today to support Poland’s women’s team in their opening match against Japan. During the match, the President was gifted a souvenir volleyball, which almost exactly replicates those being used on the field of play in Paris.

Also present at the match-up between France and Serbia were Nenad Lalović, President of United World Wrestling and IOC Executive Board member, and IOC Member Luis Mejia Oviedo. Their attendance was a fantastic demonstration of the Olympic Games as a global celebration of sport and both were seen to be soaking up the electric atmosphere.

The day wrapped up with a meeting between FIVB leadership and the President of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar, ahead of Slovenia’s men’s team match against Canada.

The presence of these esteemed guests, alongside thousands of excited and passionate fans perfectly showcased the unifying power of sports on the global stage.
