SEATTLE — Beach Volleyball Head Coach Derek Olson has announced the addition of two more transfers into the Husky program for 2022-23. Mary Sinclair will join the Beach Dawgs from Pepperdine and Piper Monk-Heidrich comes to Seattle from UCLA.
Sinclair and Monk-Heidrich are the latest pieces to a class that also includes Grand Canyon transfer Teagan DeFalco. Monk-Heidrich will be entering the UW Intercollegiate Athletics Leadership Masters program and Sinclair has been accepted into the Communications Leadership program.
A native of Ventura, Calif., Sinclair was a starter on the Waves squad that went 22-12 this year and finished ranked 17th nationally. She had a 12-11 record overall, going 6-4 at the No. 3 spot with two partners, and 6-6 at the No. 4 spot, and 0-1 at No. 5. She had a big win at the four spot against 4th-ranked Florida State, and a win at No. 3 against 14th-ranked Long Beach State. Sinclair also had 13 dual wins in the 2021 season
Monk-Heidrich was on the top-ranked Bruins squad in 2019 and 2020 but did not see any dual match action. The native of Manhattan Beach had a stellar prep career, winning the 2018 AVPFirst National Championships, and taking second at the AAU Junior Olympics, second at AAU Nationals, third at the AAU Pan Pacific Championships, and first at the AVPNext Tournament. She also was a two-time winner of the Interscholastic Beach Volleyball League state title.
