Following the conclusion of the 2024 World ParaVolley Final Paralympics Qualifier held in Dali, China, the stage is now set for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games with Ukraine Men and Slovenia Women clinching the final qualification spots.
βThe qualification pathway for the Paris Paralympics was long and faced many challenges for all involved. World ParaVolley returned to staging live events in 2022 with the WPV Sitting Volleyball World Championship being postponed, then cancelled in China due to COVID, to then being successfully hosted by Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo. Qualifying events were successfully hosted by the respective four zones of World ParaVolley in Canada, Italy, Kazakhstan and Nigeria. Egypt hosted the WPV World Cup in Cairo, and the process concluded with the WPV Final Qualifier in Dali, China.β WPV President Lori Okimura remarked.
βThe teams participating in the qualifying pathway deserve our thanks and appreciation for their patience and understanding, their dedication and preparation. Our hundreds of volunteers around the world, our international technical officials including media delegates, classifiers, referees and technical officials, all played an important role in achieving the result of the 16 teams that will compete in the 10-day sitting volleyball competition at the Paris Paralympics.β
With this final piece in place, the pools for the upcoming Paralympic Games have been determined in adherence to World ParaVolley sport regulations.
France, as the host nation claims the first position in Pool A, while the remaining qualified teams are positioned according to their World Rankings as of March 1, 2024, using the serpentine system.
In the womenβs event, the pools are outlined as follows:
Pool A β France, United States, China, Italy
Pool B β Canada, Brazil, Rwanda, Slovenia
For the menβs event, the pools are structured as follows:
Pool A β France, Egypt, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kazakhstan
Pool B β Iran, Brazil, Germany, Ukraine
