ROSEMONT, Ill. β The Big Ten Conference recognized a record 154 Rutgers’ student-athletes on the fall 2021 Academic All-Big Ten listing. The 154 Scarlet Knights to be honored are a fall school record since joining the Big Ten for the 2014-15 academic year. The total far surpassed the previous record of 123, set in 2020.
Seven different programs are recognized on the list. That includes 57 from football, 21 from field hockey, 21 from women’s soccer, 16 from men’s cross country, 16 from men’s soccer, 13 from women’s cross country and 10 from volleyball.
The honorees were led by Tyreek Maddox-Williams (football), who was recognized for the fifth time. RU also had 20 four-time honorees, a new fall record. Twenty-three student-athletes earned the recognition for the third time in their career, while forty-five were repeat honorees. Eighty-nine total honorees on the listing have earned multiple Academic All-Big Ten selections in their careers.
Noah Vedral (football), Maddie Brant and Adriana Kuryla from women’s soccer and Shealyn McNamara (volleyball) earned special recognition for their 4.0 grade-point average.

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team, as verified by being on the official squad list as of Nov. 1 for fall sports, who have been enrolled full time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
