RRAC volleyball players of the week announced for Oct. 24-30

WACO, Texas — Kennedy Wade of Xavier University (La.) earned recognition as the RRAC Volleyball Attacker of the Week for Oct. 24-30. Johnice Hubbard of Jarvis Christian University (Texas) claimed the RRAC Setter of the Week award, and Xavier’s Linda Mungai was tabbed as the RRAC Defender of the Week for the same dates. This is the 10th set of conference awards for the 2022 volleyball season.
Wade averaged 3.8 kills per set in a 2-1 week for the Gold Nuggets. The junior outside hitter from Gainesville, Fla., hit double-digits in kills in back-to-back victories over Paul Quinn College (Texas), and she hit .241 with 10 kills in a loss on the road at Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas). For the week, she compiled 35 kills in 98 attacks with 17 errors. Wade leads the RRAC with 295 kills and 3.7 per set. Xavier holds second place in the conference at 12-2 with an overall mark of 17-8.
Hubbard delivered 65 assists in a 2-1 week for the Bulldogs. The junior setter from Baton Rouge, La., posted a double-double with 29 assists and 13 digs in a 3-2 win over Louisiana Christian University on Saturday. Hubbard also recorded 17 assists in a win over Williams Baptist College (Ark.) while averaging 5.4 assists per set for the week. She is fourth in the conference with 460 assists this season. JCU is currently in fifth place in the RRAC at 7-7 with a record of 17-9 on the season.
Mungai contributed 44 digs for the Gold Nuggets to continue her strong play. The junior libero from Busto Arsizio, Italy, reached the 20-dig mark in a match for the sixth time this season with 24 in a 3-1 win over Paul Quinn College (Texas). Mungai averaged 4.4 digs per set and her total of 399 digs on the season leads the conference.
