RRAC volleyball weekly award winners released for Sept. 27-Oct. 3

WACO, Texas — Kennedy Wade of Xavier University (La.) received the RRAC Volleyball Attacker of the Week award for Sept. 27-Oct. 3. Madelynn Strzelczyk of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) collected the RRAC Setter of the Week honor, and Kaia Brooks of Jarvis Christian College (Texas) was selected RRAC Defender of the Week for the same dates. This is the sixth set of weekly awards for the 2021 RRAC volleyball season.

Wade followed up her RRAC Defender of the Week award with a standout match on the attack this week. The sophomore outside hitter from Gainesville, Fla., delivered 12 kills with two errors on 20 attempts in a 3-0 win over Texas College. Wade averaged six kills per set with a .500 hitting percentage. She has produced 2.6 kills and 2.7 digs per set this season. The Gold Nuggets are now 4-1 in conference play and 4-5 on the season. 

Strzelczyk dished out 30 assists and contributed 10 digs in a 3-0 victory over University of the Southwest (N.M.). The sophomore setter from Marion, Texas, averaged 10.0 assists per set in the match and holds a 10.3 average on the season, which is 15th-best nationally. The Saints improved to 5-0 in league competition and 10-3 overall. 

Brooks amassed 47 digs in a 2-0 week for the Bulldogs. The junior defensive specialist from Dallas accounted for 23 digs in a 3-2 victory over Williams Baptist University (Ark.), and she averaged 6.1 digs per set for the week. Brooks is averaging 5.0 digs per set this season. JCC improved to 2-2 in the RRAC with a 3-13 mark on the season.
