Wiley trio sweeps RRAC volleyball weekly awards for Oct. 25-31

WACO, Texas — Hailie Williams of Wiley College (Texas) received the RRAC Volleyball Attacker of the Week award for Oct. 25-31. Wiley’s LeAndria Jackson picked up the RRAC Setter of the Week honor and the Wildcats’ Merritt Elder completed the sweep as the RRAC Defender of the Week for the same dates. This is the 10th set of weekly awards for the 2021 RRAC volleyball season.
Williams pounded 12 kills in a 3-0 pivotal victory for Wiley over University of the Southwest (N.M.). The sophomore right side hitter from Martinville, La., committed only three errors in 29 total attacks for a .310 percentage in the match. Williams scored the last three points to close out the win. She also led the team with five blocks and a pair of service aces. Wiley clinched a berth in the RRAC tournament with a 5-6 conference mark and a record of 7-8 overall.
Jackson averaged 10.7 assists per set against the Mustangs. The freshman setter from Humble, Texas, finished the match with 32 assists. Jackson was one dig shy of her third double-double of the season.
Elder accounted for 19 digs in the win over USW. The sophomore defensive specialist from Austin, Texas, recorded her 11th double-digit dig match of the season with 6.3 per set.
