Watertown S.D. – The Presentation College Saints season came to an end in the second round of the North Star Athletic Association ‘Super Six’ Championship tonight. The Saints fell in three straight sets to the 14th ranked Bruins of the University of Bellevue. The Saints finish the season with an overall record of 10-22 and 7-9 in the NSAA.

After winning their first match of the ‘Super Six’ championship the Saints did not seem to be concerned that they were playing the 14th ranked team in the nation. The first set was a back and forth affair until the Bruins pushed the lead to four points half way thru the set. The Saints were never able to cut into that four point cushion and the Bruins scored the last five points to win 25-17.

Much like the first set the second set was a back and forth battle between these two teams. Like in the first set the Bruins did build another four point lead halfway thru the set. This time whoever the Saints came back and cut into that lead and got it to a two point deficit but could not get any closer losing 22-25.

In what would be the Saints final set of the season they kept close with the Bruins again half way thru the third set with a 12-12 tie. The Bruins then like in the previous two sets went on a run to build up a cushion and the Saints could not overcome the run. The Saints season came to an end with a 21-25 loss and swept by the Bruins in three sets.

By the Numbers…

Makynna Snow (SO/Galt, CA) led the offense with seven kills. Grace Tobin (JR/Mason City, IA) and Maggie Heesch (SO/Watertown, SD) added six kills each in the match. Olivia Corey (SO/Watertown, SD) had 16 assist and fellow setter, Sydney Miller (SR/Battle Ground, WA) had 13 assists. Tobin led the Saints with 22 digs. Laura Babcock (SR/Aberdeen, SD) had 13 digs in the match and Cassidy Keller (SR/Canistota, SD) had 11. Kerstin Knopik (SO/Little Falls, MN) was part of seven blocks on the match.

Next Up…

Next up for the Saints is the off season and to build off of this season and the win in the postseason. The other thing for the Saints is to say good bye to four seniors who helped this team grow over their time at Presentation College.
