MILWAUKEE – No. 5 Stanford closed out a four-match trip to Milwaukee with a sweep over No. 24 Marquette, 25-18, 25-17, 25-22, Wednesday, at the Al McGuire Center.
Stanford (4-0) hit a season-high .373 as it defeated its third straight top-25 opponent. The Cardinal collected 48 kills, 48 digs and four aces. Marquette (1-1) turned in a .255 hitting percentage, and totaled 39 kills, 40 digs and 5.0 blocks.
Setter Kami Miner registered her third straight double-double, posting 31 assists and a match-high 11 digs. Outside hitter Elia Rubin also finished with a double-double, tallying 12 kills on .440 hitting, 10 digs and an ace. Six of her kills came in the final frame, where she hit .545.
Redshirt freshman Ipar Kurt led all players with 14 kills to go with two aces and a dig. Opposite Jordyn Harvey was lights out offensively, hitting .455 with 11 kills on 22 swings with just one miscue. The sophomore also racked up five digs and a block.
Freshman middle blocker Lizzy Andrew added six kills on a .556 clip, while graduate student Charity McDowell started in place of Sami Francis, who was unavailable for Wednesday’s match. McDowell finished with three kills and a block.
Libero Elena Oglivie posted 10 digs and eight assists for the Cardinal. Senior defensive specialist Taylor Beaven earned the start in the back row, recording six digs. Freshman defensive specialist Malyssa Cawa chipped in with five digs and two assists.
Marquette was led by Aubrey Hamilton, who recorded 12 kills on .312 hitting, three digs and three blocks. Stanford improves to 3-0 all-time against the Golden Eagles.
The Cardinal remains on the road next week, traveling to UC Santa Barbara on Tuesday and Pepperdine on Wednesday. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
