Stillman Falls at Faulkner, 3-0

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Stillman College showed improvement in its second match of the season Saturday, despite a three-set loss at Faulkner University, 25-3, 25-11, 25-5.

  

The Tigers’ attack percentage improved by 0.70 from Friday’s season-opener in Mobile. Aeraeonna Manuel led Stillman’s attach with a season-high four kills, while Kamryn Harris added season-highs two kills and led all players with seven digs. Defensively, Khadeja Bryant added six digs and Anniston Jones had four. Taylor Roland had three set assists and three digs.

 

Rebecca Brogdon recorded Stillman’s first service ace of the season to open the third set. In the third set, Stillman led 2-1 after a Manuel kill. Grace Fjeldstad, who had two set assists, added a kill to keep Stillman within three points, 6-3. Harris ended the Eagles’ next run with a kill to keep Stillman within five points, 9-4, but Stillman was out-scored 14-1 down the stretch. 

 

Faulkner (10-4, 1-1 SSAC) recorded 12 aces in the match, as Stillman had five less reception errors than its first match. Hannah Bryan led Faulkner with eight kills, and Ellie Cyr had seven. Mandi Hart had 15 set assists.

 

Stillman (0-2, 0-2 SSAC) will host Blue Mountain College (13-2, 1-1 SSAC) on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. for its home opener in Birthright Alumni Hall.
