Athens, Tenn.- The volleyball team hosted another Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game on Tuesday. The team welcomed the other Lady Bulldogs of the AAC, Union College.

The first set started close and ended close. Kills by Haylie Peoples, Gabby Harris, and Marjorie Smith along with block assists by Aly Grace Lemons and Smith helped TWU lead 7-5 early. The lead stayed in the favor of the Lady Bulldogs through points by Jenna Huppert and Peoples as the score moved to 12-10. Union used a 6-1 run to move ahead 16-13 though, eventually going ahead 21-17 deep in the set. Tennessee Wesleyan battled back though using kills by Ariana Smith, Huppert, and Harris, and a Maggie Olson service ace to tie the set 23-23. The set extended to a final score of 27-25, but the visiting Lady Bulldogs were ahead on the scoreboard at the end of the first set.

After falling behind 3-0, the Lady Bulldogs battled back to take a 5-4 lead off block assists by Lemons and M. Smith. The lead moved out to 15-9, with help from points by Madison Coffey, A. Smith, M. Smith, Harris, and Olson. The tide turned in the set as Union outscored the team 9-3 over the next few segments to tie the match 18-18. The visitors broke the tie and carried the momentum to a 25-21 second set win.

The third set was close throughout and went past the 25-point threshold like the first set. Through the first 20 points of the set, the score was tied 10-10. As the score continued to progress, with M. Smith, Huppert, Lemons, Harris, and People adding points, Union jumped ahead 24-22 to force match point. Two straight points by TWU prevented the match from ending, and a kill by Huppert helped the team extend the match, giving the team a 28-26 third set win.
