Terps Drop Road Match At No. 3 Wisconsin


MADISON, WI — Maryland fell in straight sets (22-25, 15-25, 18-25) to No. 3 Wisconsin on Saturday evening in the UW Field House. 

The Terps went toe-to-toe with one of the top teams in the nation in the first frame, pouring in 17 kills and hitting .282 until the Badgers took the final three points to break the 22-22 tie. Sam Csire led the way with six kills in the opener. 

Sam Csire led the way with 12 putaways while Gem Grimshaw and Erin Morrissey each set season-highs in kills with nine and eight, respectively . It was the 19th game this season that Csire has recorded at least 10 kills. 

Zoe Huang set a career-high with 17 assists. 

Maryland notched 6.5 total blocks to Wisconsin’s six. Anastasia Russ recorded five, individually. 

The Terps dropped to 14-13 overall and 5-10 in Big Ten play while the Badgers improved to 20-3, 11-1. 

Notes

  • Huang saw game action for the first time since Sept. 2 against Stony Brook.
  • Laila Ricks played for the first time since Oct. 29 against Nebraska.
  • Morrissey played in her second consecutive game after missing the first 25 this season and all but one last season due to injury.
