THE 25TH ELECTIVE GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN BANGKOK ENDS ON HIGH NOTE, WITH MR RAMON SUZARA ELECTED THE NEW AVC PRESIDENT

Bangkok, Thailand, August 30, 2024 – The 25th Elective General Assembly came to a fruitful conclusion at The Grand Fourwings Convention Hotel Bangkok on Friday morning, as Mr Ramon Suzara was elected the new AVC President after receiving 48 out of 63 casting their votes in the election proceedings.

   

The second-day meeting commenced with a welcome remark of AVC President Mrs Rita Subowo.

“Welcome to the last day of our meeting in Bangkok. Once again, I would like to thank hosts Thailand Volleyball Association and all members from the AVC Headquarters in Bangkok. Thank you for your excellent job, your hard work to help make our meeting happen. We then can run it conveniently and smoothly,” she was quoted as saying in her speech.

After that, the Independent Auditor reported on the financial situation of AVC, informing the meeting that after a financial statement audit with the last report on January 2024, it was shown that the financial statements of the AVC including the income statements, balance sheets and cash flow are in good position.

Ahead of the selection for five scrutineers to observe the conduct of the election, Subowo informed the meeting that the Assembly came to a close since Thursday with all items taken for acknowledgement and discussion and she invited the FIVB President Dr Ary Graca to deliver a speech which could be a guidance for all Members and delegates.

“We get together here as a family. I would like to emphasize that AVC President Mrs Subowo is very important in all aspects. One of them and I think I’m right to mention is she is a strong person to work with, listens to everyone and keeps an eye on FIVB’s advices. All in all, what we are gonna do and what’s going on in Asia, I would like to congratulate you all on this excellent achievement. I would like to remind you that the election is an act of democracy. Everyone has a right to serve for volleyball. I would like to ask you for unity. It does not matter who is gonna win or lose the election. In fact, no loser. Everyone here has to give his best to volleyball for the Asian volleyball family. So, after the election, let’s keep the unity. Together, I’m sure, we will reach our goal, we will be strong. Let’s bring success to Asia,” said the FIVB President.
