FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 11 Sun Devil Beach Volleyball split the final day at the Fight in the Fort, grabbing a 4-1 win over No. 13 Florida International before falling to No. 4 TCU, 3-2.
Arizona State (14-4) finished the weekend with a 3-1 record, grabbing wins against No. 14 Washington and Florida Gulf Coast on Friday. The Sand Devils collected the program’s sixth and seventh ranked wins on the season this weekend, extending the current record for most in a single season.
No. 2 duo sophomore Arden Besecker and freshman Ava Williamson went undefeated this weekend, extending their winning streak to nine in a row after today’s duals. They have now tied the record set by Oluoma Okaro and Ashley Wenz (2019) and moved up to ninth in ASU history for single season pairs record.
Sophomores Ava Kirunchyk and Carys Thomas finished their weekend 3-1 after they won both of their matches today on court four, winning in straight sets against FIU and coming back in a three set victory against TCU. Graduate Lexi Sweeney and senior Taryn Ames also collected three wins, earning their third this morning in three sets.
Game One: #11 ASU 4, #13 FIU 1
ASU got its fifth win in a row by beating FIU (14-6). The first wave of courts four and five got things going with a pair of sweeps to take the early 2-0 dual lead. Besecker and Williamson clinched it with a sweep for their eighth win in a row as a pair. The last point came from Ames and Sweeney in a dramatic three-set win.

Game Two: #4 TCU 3, #11 Arizona State 2
The Sand Devils fell short to TCU (18-2) in the last game of this weekend’s slate. Courts four and five went to three sets with court four coming out on top to start the dual off at 1-1. Although TCU won and then clinched on courts three and one, Besecker and Williamson were able to grab another point in straight sets. Their win marked their ninth win in a row as a pair.
