Tyler Mitchem Makes USA Men’s Volleyball National Team


COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Former Lewis University men’s volleyball player Tyler Mitchem (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook HS) began his journey in Cueno, Italy for the USA Men’s Volleyball National Team during warm-up matches. The team begins pool play August 26 in Katowice, Poland where they will take on Mexico to compete for the 2022 FIVB World Championship.

Mitchem played five seasons for Lewis men’s volleyball from 2018-2022 and played in 127 matches during his time with the Flyers while receiving AVCA All-American Honors three times. The Bolingbrook, Illinois native recorded 1,134 kills during his time with Lewis.

Mitchem was named All-MIVA Second Team as a freshman then the other four years he was award all-conference first team. During his last two seasons, he led the program to NCAA Tournament semifinals appearances.
