MERCED, Calif. – Olanasaze Ojo of the University of California, Merced women’s volleyball team was selected to the All-California Pacific Conference Second Team for her performance throughout the regular season.

Ojo’s All-Cal Pac Second Team honor is the second of her career, first earning the distinction in 2020.

This season, Ojo averaged a career-high 2.5 kills per set in her first season as an outside hitter coming over from the middle blocker position.

Ojo also averaged 0.5 blocks per set to finish as one of just four Cal Players in 2022 with at least 2.5 kills and 0.5 blocks per set.

Ten of Ojo’s 36 total blocks on the year were solo. She also tallied 42 digs.

Ojo’s most impressive stretch came in the first half of Cal Pac play, tallying a career-high 18 kills in a four-set win over La Sierra University and then finishing with a three-set career-high the following week against regular season champion Benedictine University Mesa. Shortly after, she finished with double figure kills in three consecutive matches.

The Benicia, Calif., ended the year with at least one block in eight straight matches. She had at least three blocks in the Bobcats final three matches.

Through three seasons at UC Merced, Ojo is currently ranked sixth in program history with 2.1 kills per set, seventh with 473 total kills, and tenth with a .186 hitting percentage. Defensively, Ojo is second with 56 solo blocks and fourth with 169 total blocks.
