SAN FRANCISCO – USC beach volleyball senior All-Americans Megan Kraft (San Diego, Calif./Torrey Pines HS) and Delaynie Maple (San Diego, Calif./Torrey Pines HS) were named the Pac-12 Pair of the Week on Tuesday, April 23.
Kraft-Maple collect the record 29th all-time Pac-12 weekly award won by a Trojan duo. It is the first and only Pac-12 Pair of the Week honor won by a USC pair this season and has the inauspicious distinction of being the last ever Pac-12 beach volleyball Pair of the Week award.
The Trojan seniors went 2-0 in straight-set victories over the top pairs from No. 1 UCLA (21-17, 21-19 vs. Maggie Boyd and Lexy Denaberg) and No. 9 Loyola Marymount (21-12, 21-19 vs. Vilhelmina Prihti and Michelle Shaffer). The duo pushed for a five-match win streak for the third time this season. They also had a 20-match streak of victories earlier in the spring. Kraft-Maple became the first and only pair in the country to reach 30 wins this season; all from the No. 1 position.
Despite not having previously been chosen by the Pac-12 as its Pair of the Week this season, Kraft-Maple has maintained its position as the top-rated pair in the country by TruVolley for nine consecutive weeks. Individually, Kraft and Maple have each reached 120-career wins to further cement themselves as the winningest players in NCAA history by matches won per season. Their two wins earned their 57th and 58th victories as a pair to solidify their standing at sixth in USC history.
Earlier this season (March 18), Kraft-Maple collected the eighth all-time AVCA/CBVB National Pair of the Week honor won by a Trojan duo. The two All-Americans were also tabbed for the same honor in 2023 (March 6).
USC pairs have won the Pac-12 Pair of the Week award a league-best 29 times since 2016. Last year, Kraft-Maple captured weekly honors once while Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse were chosen for the award once. USC All-American Tina Graudina owns a league-record eight weekly awards having won with Abril Bustamante three times (2018-19), twice with Sammy Slater (2021), and once with Kraft (2021)….
