CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Riding its best start since 2003, the Virginia volleyball team (10-1) will open ACC competition on the road as the Cavaliers head to Wake Forest (8-3) on Friday and NC State (5-3) on Sunday.

SEASON OVERVIEW
- This year marks the 46th season of Virginia Volleyball, which held its inaugural season in 1979.
- In 45 complete seasons, UVA is 681-767 (.470) all-time.
- The Cavaliers are set to host 16 home matches in 2024, including the second-ever in John Paul Jones Arena against Miami on Oct. 6.
- Head coach Shannon Wells is in her fourth season at the helm.
SERIES HISTORY
- Wake Forest leads the all-time, 29-28, over the Cavaliers and has won the last six meetings dating back to 2019. The Demon Deacons took the lone 2023 meeting, 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 23-25, 21-25) on Oct. 27. The last Virginia win over Wake Forest came in 2019 when the Cavaliers downed the Demon Deacons 3-1 (21-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-11).
- Virginia leads the all-time series against the Wolfpack, 39-37, but has lost the previous 12 meetings. The Cavaliers’ last win over NC State was a sweep on Nov. 20, 2015 in Mem Gym. The two teams first met on Oct. 31, 1981, with the Wolfpack winning in two sets.

LAST TIME OUT
- The Cavaliers closed out their non-conference slate by taking a pair of matches from Middle Tennessee State 3-1 and 3-2, respectively.
- In the first match on Sept. 17, Virginia was led Abby Tadder (16 kills, 8 blocks), Brooklyn Borum (12 kills, 0 errors, .316 Hit%, 6 blocks) and Ashley Le (28 assists, 17 digs). The match also included a play by Le that landed the senior on ESPN’s Sportscenter top 10 plays. Borum’s six total blocks matched her career high, and her six block assists are a career best.
- In the second match, the Cavaliers were paced by Kate Dean (12 kills, .450 Hit%), Borum (12 kills, 8 digs) and Le, who recorded a career-high 51 assists along with 12 digs.
