WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue volleyball staff member Michael Bouril was promoted to Technical Coordinator & Performance Analyst, announced by head coach Dave Shondell.
In his new role, Bouril will work with the coaching staff to provide statistical analysis of the current team, student-athletes and opponents.
“It’s awesome to keep Michael on-board after watching him operate for the past two years,” said head coach Dave Shondell. “This is a new role within our program, and I’m confident Michael will fit the bill given his knowledge of the game and ability to break down stats.”
Bouril, previously the team’s graduate manager, was instrumental in the development of Purdue’s student-athletes over the past two seasons, which included a pair of NCAA Regional Final appearances, as well as multiple team and individual record performances.
As Technical Coordinator & Performance Analyst, Bouril will provide the coaching staff with in-depth statistical breakdown regarding the team, opponents, conference and national trends that go beyond the box score and stat sheets. Moreover, Bouril will work closely with assistant coaches to compile scouting reports, develop algorithms and formulas to help define and translate statistical data into meaningful information to aid coaches in game strategy and team analysis.
Among his other duties, Bouril will oversee the student managers, provide student-athletes with statistical analysis and video support.
Bouril joined the Purdue volleyball program in June 2020. He owns an undergraduate degree from Penn State and a master’s degree in Recreation and Sports Management from Purdue.
