Kingsport, Tennessee– The Brenau volleyball team fell to top-seeded Bryan (Tenn.) College 3-0 (16-25, 20-25, 25-27) in the semifinals of the 2021 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Volleyball Championships on Friday.
The fifth-seeded Golden Tigers pushed the #1 seeded Lions in all three sets, but were unable to find a rhythm throughout the match.
Sophomore Chloe Bennett led Brenau with 11 kills, while juniors Mary Ellen Enright and Julieanne Saliba each tallied 11 and 10 digs respectively. Setters Gabrielle Hogle and Sydney Norton posted 18 and 14 assists respectively.
Enright was named as an All-Tournament team member for her performance at the championships. The Cumming, Ga. native notched 33 digs and 26 digs in the tournament and capped off a stellar week after being selected as an AAC First Team All-Conference team member.
The Golden Tigers finished the season with 20 wins, which tied the 2009-10 team for the second-most wins in Brenau volleyball history. Only the 2012-13 squad (24 wins) surpassed this year’s win total.
