Volleyball Finalizes Non-Conference Schedule - University of Maryland Athletics


COLLEGE PARK, MD – The University of Maryland volleyball team has rounded out its 2023 schedule with the announcement of its non-conference slate Friday morning. In addition to the 20 previously announced Big Ten conference matchups, the Terps will compete in four tournaments with a total 12 non-conference contests to start the campaign.
 
The early season tournaments will feature a pair of three-game road trips to Florida along with two tournaments played close to home in Maryland, one of which will be hosted by the Terps. In non-conference play, Maryland will host two games at the XFINITY Center Pavilion.
 
To begin the season, Maryland will travel to Miami, FL for a tournament hosted by Miami, where they will face the Hurricanes in the season opener on Aug. 25, followed by showdowns with FIU and Lamar.
 
The Terps will make the short trip to Annapolis, MD for a tournament held at Navy on Labor Day Weekend. Over the three-match tourney, Maryland will open against Old Dominion (Sept. 1) with matches against Utah Valley (Sept. 2) and the host Navy (Sept. 3) later in the weekend.
 
The home crowd in College Park will get their first taste of the Terps in the regular season in a tournament hosted at Maryland. The home opener is scheduled for Sept. 8, where head coach Adam Hughes will lead his team against Coastal Carolina. On Sept. 9, Maryland will take on Princeton at the Pav before concluding the weekend to Howard (Sept. 10) in Washington DC.
 
Maryland’s non-conference schedule will come to a close with a tournament on the campus of Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers, FL. The tournament will consist of matches against Le Moyne, FAU and the host Florida Gulf Coast.
 
In 2022, the Terps wrapped up non-conference competition with a 9-3 record, continuing its 11-year streak of finishing non-conference play with a winning record which dates back to 2012.
 
Game times for non-conference action will be announced on a later date.
 
In Big Ten play, the Terps are penciled in for in home-and-away matchups against Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio State, Purdue, Rutgers and Wisconsin. Additionally, Maryland will welcome Illinois, Minnesota and Penn State to College Park, while hitting the road to take on Michigan State, Nebraska and Northwestern.
