Volleyball Recognized with AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Union College women’s volleyball team was recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association with the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 season, the association announced earlier this week.

The Dutchwomen are honored for the fourth straight season and the seventh time in the last nine years. To be recognized, collegiate and high school volleyball teams must maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team GPA on a 4.0 scale during the school year, making the standard one of the highest among collegiate coaching associations.

Union finished the 2021-22 school year with a cumulative team GPA of 3.35, including an impressive 3.45 team GPA during the fall season. Ten of the team’s 18 players finished the year with a cumulative GPA above 3.4, as well as 15 student-athletes with at least a 3.0 GPA.

First-year head coach Annie DeLoid will begin her Union tenure on September 2 at the Cazenovia Invitational.
