Volleyball Set to Host Red-Blue Scrimmage on Saturday


TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Volleyball will host its annual Red-Blue scrimmage on Saturday, August 19. The match is set to begin at 12 p.m. MST in McKale Center.
 
This is the first chance for fans to see first-year head coach Charita Stubbs and the 2023 team before Arizona opens the season at home with the Cactus Classic on Aug. 25-26. The Cats will host North Carolina, UC Davis, and Pacific for the Cactus Classic.
 
Arizona is returning nine players from the 2022 roster, including four starters. The returners include sophomore Ana Heath, juniors Nicole Briggs, Alayna JohnsonPuk StubbeAva Tortorello, and Haven Wray, and seniors Joy Galles, Jaelyn Hodge, and Sofia Maldonado Diaz.
 
The Wildcats welcome 10 newcomers to the team this season: freshmen Laura Detweiler, Tess Fuqua, Giorgia Mandotti, Kenzie Schoenhardt, Ania Swartzendruber, Journey Tucker, and Sydnie Vanek and transfers Kasen Rosenthal, Jordan Wilson, and Kylie Wong.
 
Admission to the Red-Blue scrimmage is included for season ticket holders and is $5 for non-season ticket holders.
