Weekend Preview: Lady Vols Travel to #24 Florida for Friday Matchup

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Playing its third straight match against a ranked opponent, Tennessee volleyball hits the road Friday for a contest against No. 24 Florida at Exactech Arena in Gainesville.

The Lady Vols (10-7, 3-4 SEC) enter the showdown coming off a victory against No. 25 Auburn at home this past Sunday. Prior to contest, the Big Orange took on No. 15 Kentucky on Wednesday. First serve against the Gators (13-5, 4-3 SEC) is at 7 p.m. ET, and the match will be televised on SEC Network.

Last year, Tennessee outlasted Florida in a five-set thriller in Gainesville. Graduate outside hitter Jenaisya Moore had a career-best 23 kills in the contest, including six in the final frame to lift the Lady Vols to their first win at UF since 2012.

Florida is on a two-match win streak, besting LSU and Texas A&M this past weekend, and the Gators have won three of their last four contests. Their top victory of the season came in a five-set thriller against the No. 18 Florida State Seminoles.

All-American opposite hitter Kennedy Martin leads the UF attack with 5.36 points per set this season, which ranks No. 1 in the SEC. Additionally, she is averaging 0.48 aces and 4.53 kills per set, good for second and third in the conference, respectively. She garnered SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week accolades on Monday after averaging 6.25 points and 4.83 kills per set in Florida’s road wins.

Tennessee stays on the road next weekend as well, heading to Georgia (Nov. 1) and South Carolina (Nov. 3) to wrap up a stretch that saw the Lady Vols play at home just twice between Sept. 26 through Nov. 7.
