Wildcats Beat Alabama State in Straight Sets

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona closed out the Cactus Classic with a three-set win over Alabama State. The Cats held the Hornets to a -.061 hitting percentage and served seven aces.
 
Sofia Maldonado Diaz led Arizona with 10 kills followed by Puk Stubbe with nine kills. Zyonna Fellows was the heart of Arizona’s defense, recording five blocks – two solo blocks and three block assists.
 
Arizona won the first set, 25-20. Alayna Johnson led the team with four kills and one block. Fellows and Stubbe each knocked down three kills in the set.
 
The Cats were dominant in the second set, winning 25-8 while hitgin .480 on 14 kills. Dilara Gedikoglu led the attack with four kills and two aces, followed by Fellows and Stubbe with three kills each.
 
The Cats won the final set, 25-16. Maldonado Diaz had six kills and hit .625 to secure the straight-set sweep for Arizona.
