COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Northwestern avenged an earlier season loss to Maryland by blowing away the Terrapins 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-20) on Saturday at XFINITY Center Pavilion.
The win boosted the Wildcats’ record to 15-7 overall and 4-6 in Big Ten play, while the Terps fell to 12-10 (3-7 B1G).

The Wildcats offense was once again paced by Temi Thomas-Ailara, who finished with 18 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .342, and by Kathryn Randorf, who had 12 while hitting .385. Defensively, NU had two players reach double figures in digs as Megan Miller had 16 and Ellee Stinson had 12.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Wildcats grabbed the first set 25-23 propelled by a solid performance on the attacking end. Northwestern put together a .318 attack percentage with 19 kills in the set victory. The Wildcats rallied from down six at 17-11 to grab the win.
SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Northwestern put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-20 victory in set number two. The Wildcats grabbed control of the set lead early on at 4-3 and held the lead the rest of the way. Northwestern led by as many as nine points at 14-5 before closing out the set, collecting 15 kills in the process. Northwestern’s front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking five Maryland attacks in the stanza.
SET 3 | Northwestern then ended the match with a victory in set number three, winning 25-20. Northwestern took the lead for good at 8-7 in a set that showcased two lead changes before the Wildcats took over the lead.
