Wildcats Sweep Panthers on Day Two of ASU Collegiate Cup

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Arizona won its second game of the ASU Collegiate Cup with a 3-0 sweep over Prairie View A&M on Friday afternoon to improve to 5-0 this season.
 
The Wildcats served 10 aces against the Panthers and four different players had two aces each. Jordan Wilson led Arizona’s offense with 10 kills while the defense was led by Carlie Cisneros with 14 digs and Kiari Robey with three blocks. Three Cats –  Cisneros, Jaelyn Hodge, and Robey – all recorded eight kills in the match.
 
The Cats took the first set, 25-20 after trading points with the Panthers to begin the set. Cisneros hit .556 on five kills and Hodge had four kills to lead Arizona’s offense in the first set. Arizona went on a pair of 3-0 runs at the end of the set and a kill from Amanda DeWitt to secure the first set victory.
 

Arizona won the second set, 25-20, to take a 2-0 lead in the match. Although Arizona was out-blocked 1.0-5.0 by Prairie View A&M, the Cats tallied 15 kills to overcome the Panthers. Hodge led Arizona with four kills and Cisneros followed with three kills. Avery Scoggins, Robey, and Wilson all had two kills for the Cats. DeWitt recorded her first block of the season in a block assist with Robey.
 
The Wildcats cruised to a 25-18 win in the third set to win the match. Arizona served eight aces and had two blocks. Four Wildcats – Cisneros, Wilson, Giorgia Mandotti, and Haven Wray
