Women’s Volleyball Dropped by Quinnipiac

NORTH ANDOVER, MA– The Merrimack College women’s volleyball team fell to the Quinnipiac University Bobcats in three sets at Hammel Court on Wednesday.
 
The Basics
Score: Quinnipiac 3, Merrimack: 0
Records: Merrimack (6-17, 5-7), Quinnipiac (13-11, 10-2)
 
How It Happened
The Bobcats caught an early advantage in the first set, going up 5-3. The Warriors responded with a service ace and three kills to tie the score at 11. Both teams were neck and neck until the Bobcats notched five straight points to extend their lead and ultimately win the set 25-17. Early in the second set, Quinnipiac would ignite a 7-1 edge over Merrimack. Mckenna Shotwell delivered three service aces to retake the lead but ultimately the Bobcats had other plans, as they would go on to score four consecutive points to claim the second set, 25-19. The Warriors scored first in the third and final set  but the Bobcats were right on their toes. Both teams traded blows for the first six points. The next seven points went to Quinnipiac as the Warriors trailed 14-6. The Warriors battled to the end but ultimately couldn’t find their footing and dropped the third set, 25-13
