WorldofVolley :: ITA M: Monza and Milano Secure Semifinal Spots in SuperLega Playoffs

Mint Vero Volley Monza and Allianz Milano emerged victorious in their respective quarterfinal matchups, booking their tickets to the SuperLega Credem Banca semifinals.

Monza defeated Cucine Lube Civitanova with 3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 20-25, 25-22). Stephen Maar spearheaded Vero Volley’s effort, securing the MVP title with an impressive tally of 22 points, which included 6 blocks. His pivotal performance was instrumental in guaranteeing Monza’s spot in the upcoming season of the European CEV Cup. This marks the second consecutive year Monza will feature in European competition.

In another match, Allianz Milano demonstrated exceptional team to overpower Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza with a clean sweep of 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-22). This victory was significantly propelled by the performances of Yuki Ishikawa, scoring 18 points, and the Ferre Reggers, who contributed 16 points, solidifying Milano’s place in the semifinals.

Milano’s coach praised the team’s perfect execution, while Piacenza’s Andrea Anastasi expressed disappointment over his team’s performance, acknowledging it as the least balanced match of the series.

The next round of action is set for March 31, 2024, with Monza facing Itas Trentino and Milano going up against Sir Susa Vim Perugia in what promises to be an exciting continuation of the SuperLega playoffs.
