Wright named United East Women's Volleyball Player of the Week


LATHAM, N.Y. – The United East Conference announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Nov. 1 and Gallaudet University sophomore opposite Emily Wright (Auburn, Calif.) was named Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week for the third time this season.

Wright’s play was instrumental in helping the Bison not only pick up three wins but also earn the second seed in the upcoming United East Championship. The sophomore tallied double-digit kills in all three matches, totaling 63 at the end of the week. Her most impressive outing came in a five-set match against Penn State Harrisburg in which the opposite side hitter tallied a career-high 32 kills. Penn St.-Berks senior libero Marie Durkota was selected as the Women’s Volleyball Defenisve Player of the Week for the fifth time this season.

This is Gallaudet’s sixth United East Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week honor this season. This is the third United East weekly honor for Wright in her career.
