#15 Lewis Men’s Volleyball Beats Maryville 3-0 On Saturday

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The No. 15 Lewis University men’s volleyball team sweeps Maryville at home, 3-0, and earned its fifth win of the season on Saturday night. Lewis put together multiple scoring runs in each set as the Flyers had 37 kills to Maryville’s 18 kills.

SET BREAKDOWN
FIRST SET: Lewis 25, Maryville 21

  • Maryville took an early 6-4 advantage after two service errors by Lewis.
  • Lewis was able to regain the lead at 10-9 as Drolsum dished out three straight aces to give the Flyers a 18-13 lead.
  • The Saints were able to bring the score within two at 20-18, but Lewis went on to score five of the next eight points to close out the set.

SECOND SET: Lewis 25, Maryville 16

  • Both teams traded the first 10 points of the set before Lewis was able to score four straight with two blocks and a kill from Kauling.
  • The Flyers scored five straight points again later in the set as Piotr Wymoczyl (Arlington Heights, IL/Buffalo Grove HS) had back-to-back kills.
