SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Oregon beach volleyball team split two matches Friday at a round robin hosted by San Jose State. The Ducks capped the day with a 4-1 victory over San Francisco to snap a four-match skid which included the team’s opener against Boise State. The duo of Ella Tyus and Bea Wetton were 2-0 on the day.
Day two of the Ducks’ weekend in San Jose features matches against tournament host San Jose State at 9 a.m. (PT) and CSU Bakersfield at 12 p.m. Oregon is back on its home courts Wednesday, March 23, to play Corban at 2 p.m.
Boise State (RV) 4, Oregon 1
In the second meeting this season between the two teams, Boise State took a 2-0 advantage in the dual with wins at No. 4 and 5 pairs. The Ducks picked their point with a straight-set result from Ella Tyus and Bea Wetton at the No. 2 spot in the lineup. With the 21-19, 21-13 win over Ava Anderson and Rorianna Chartier, the UO pair picked up their team-leading seventh victory of the season.
The Broncos, receiving votes in this week’s AVCA coaches poll, clinched the dual win with a sweep at the top spot. At the No. 3 spot, Natasha George and Ashley Schroeder dropped the opening set but took the second—21-19—to force a third but the Boise pair of Emilia Guerra/Acuna and Lily Patock responded to grab the final point of the weekend opener.

After being the first duo off court in the day’s opener, Abby Plevin and Batia Rotshtein recovered for a sweep of their own—beat Gutierrez and Stanschus, 21-9, 21-12—for the Ducks’ first point of the dual. Tyus and Wetton pushed the match lead to 2-0 with a straight-set victory at No. 2 doubles. The result evens the pair’s record at 8-8 this season.
