Bangkok, Thailand, January 28, 2023 – The Hong Kong, China women’s Under-16 team have been undergoing their intensive training at the FIVB Development Centre in Thailand, aiming to sharpen their skills in their active preparation for the inaugural Asian U16 Volleyball Championship later this year.
Being held between January 27 and February 1, the training camp is split into morning and afternoon sessions. The Hong Kong, China women’s U16 squad stand a good chance of learning techniques and tactics with legendary Feng Kun, a retired China women’s national team setter and captain who was awarded MVP and the Best Setter at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where China captured the gold medal.
Feng Kun, who has been working devotedly with AVC as one of the AVC Coaches Committee Members and the AVC Instructor, has conducted the training sessions both in theoretical knowledge and practical skills for teams encamped at the FIVB Development Centre in Thailand and the Hong Kong, China U16 squad made no exception. They learned a lot of things from the highly-experienced instructor.
Aside from training intensively in the morning session, the Hong Kong, China U16 squad will also have tuneup matches against local school teams in the afternoon.
Their training stint at the FIVB Development Centre in Thailand is being held in line with their preparation for the 1st Asian Women’s U16 Volleyball Championship, which will get off the ground in China from July 1 to 8, 2023, while the inaugural competition for the Men’s U16 Championship will take place in Uzbekistan from July 22 to 29.
Twenty-one men’s and women’s beach volleyball U21 players of Hong Kong, China are also undergoing intensive training at Ban Nong Ya Ma Community School in Roi Et, Thailand in their serious preparation for the 5th Asian U21 Beach Volleyball Championships in Thailand between July 13 and 16, 2023.
The training camp is under the “Hong Kong, China Youth Beach Volleyball Training Exchange Programe,” where the visitors stand an opportunity to train together with Thailand national U21 beach volleyball players in Roi Et.
Thailand hosted every edition of the Asian U21 Beach Volleyball Championships comprising the inaugural edition in Kamphaengphet in 2016, the next two editions in Roi Et in 2017 and 2019 and the fourth episode in 2021 in Nakhon Pathom.
