Rwanda’s triumphant African Zone Championship women’s squad returned home to a heroes’ welcome from their supporters. The Rwandan teams touched down at Kigali International Airport on Sunday night, receiving a warm welcome from Rwandan Ministry of Sports’ Director General for Sports Development Rwego Ngarambe.

The Rwandan women’s team clinched its fourth-straight African zone title in sitting volleyball and most importantly securing the ticket to the Paralympic Games for the third consecutive time, following their appearances at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. The world No. 5 completed a perfect sweep in the zone championship, beating Kenya in the final 3-0 to punch their ticket to the Paris Paralympic Games in August.

Meanwhile, the men’s team closed their campaign on positive note, bringing home a bronze after beating Algeria in the classification match.
The teams’ players and officials enjoyed a welcome parade through the streets of Kigali on Monday morning, celebrating the medals they have won and the women’s Paralympic Games qualification.

The National Sitting Volleyball teams were paraded through the streets of Kigali celebrating the medals and the African Championship won by the women’s team, which made them immediately get a ticket to represent the continent of Africa in the Paralympic Games that will be held in Paris this summer.
