Volleyball Falls to Reinhardt in Five Sets in AAC Play

Waleska, Georgia- The Brenau volleyball team lost a five-set heartbreaker to conference foe Reinhardt University (23-25, 15-25, 25-19, 25-19, 10-15) in an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup on Tuesday.

The Golden Tigers lost the first two sets, but rallied to win the next two sets to send the match into a final stanza. . 

In the fifth frame, the host Eagles (7-9 overall, 5-2 AAC) jumped out to a 7-3, but the Golden Tigers rallied to close the gap to 11-10 behind consecutive kills by senior Mary Ellen Enright. However, Reinhardt ended the match on a 4-0 run to clinch the victory.

Enright led all hitters with 26 kills, while junior Chloe Bennett and sophomore Malone Davis each added eight kills. 

Senior Julieanne Saliba led Brenau with 35 digs and senior setter Gabrielle Hogle assisted on 39 kills. 

Brenau (5-10 overall, 3-4 AAC) next goes on the road for two AAC road matches beginning with a match against Bluefield (Va.) University (9-6 overall, 7-1 AAC) on Friday and concluding with a match against Kentucky Christian (5-13 overall, 1-6 AAC) on Saturday.
