Volleyball Lands Seven on All-Academic Team


GREENSBORO – The NC State volleyball program landed seven student-athletes on the ACC All-Academic team, as announced by the conference office Tuesday morning. 

Making the team from the Wolfpack are: Ava Brizard, Naomi Cabello, Priscilla Hernandez, Martyna Leoniak, Elaisa Villar, Hannah Wander, and Madison Williams

The seven selections set a program record for most honorees in a single season and 2022 marked the 11th season the Wolfpack has placed two or more athletes on the team.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintain a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team. Nominees must have participated in at least 50 percent of the teams contests. 

Brizard finished the fall semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA. The Novi, Mich. native earned All-Freshman team honors following the conclusion of the 2022 season. 

Cabello earned a 3.4 GPA during the fall term in her sport management studies. The transfer from Texas joined the Pack for the spring 2022 semester.  

Hernandez also recorded a 3.4 GPA in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism management. She was tabbed second team All-ACC following the regular season. 

Leoniak, who joined the Pack in spring 2022 after transferring from Hawai’i, finished the fall with a 3.66 GPA in exploratory studies. 

Villar finished the fall with a perfect 4.0 GPA in sport management. She appeared in 15 matches for the Pack as a defensive specialist in 2022. 

Wander recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA for the fall while studying biological sciences. The senior also maintains a 4.0 cumulative GPA. 

Williams, a transfer from Texas that joined the Pack in spring 2022, finished the semester with a 3.0 GPA in sport management. 

The Pack finished the 2022 season 10-8 in ACC play and 16-13 overall.
