#13 Sand Devils Away and Home This Week


TEMPE – After a week off, No. 13 Sun Devil Beach Volleyball is wrapping up the regular season this week by traveling down to Tucson for a rivalry dual on Thursday against No. 19 Arizona at 3 p.m. MST before returning to Tempe the next day for Senior Day against Ottawa at 5:30 p.m. MST.

Fan Information

Fans are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and umbrellas, but there is also seating that people can use at the facility. There is a clear bag policy and pets are not allowed. Parking is available to the south of the courts by the Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium.

Friday’s dual will be Senior Day for ASU, honoring seniors Taryn Ames, Kate Fitzgerald, Ivey Weber and graduate Lexi Sweeney. The ceremony will be prior to the dual.

For those not in attendance, Friday’s home dual will be on the ASU Live Stream. There will be live scoring for both games and fans can follow along on Instagram and X (formerly known as Twitter), @sundevilbeachvb. 

Sun Devil Outlook

No. 13 Arizona State (18-6)

  • ASU was off last weekend. The previous weekend, Arizona State played at the Pac-12 North Tournament in Seattle, going 2-2 with sweeps over Oregon and Utah.
  • The Sun Devils remained undefeated against unranked teams this year, a perfect 9-0. Against ranked opponents, ASU is 9-6, the highest number of ranked wins in a single season in program history.
  • There are seven current Sand Devils ranked in the top 24 in the ASU record book for career individual wins, led by senior Taryn Ames and graduate Lexi Sweeney tied for fifth with 57 victories.
  • The team leaders in wins this season are sophomore Arden Besecker and freshman Ava Williamson, both with a 20-4 record. That win total is tied for seventh in the ASU record book for individual wins in a single season.  

Opponent Outlook

No. 19 Arizona (18-9)

  • The Wildcats were at the Stanford Invitational last weekend, falling to the host team before sweeping Pacific.
  • Arizona has one ranked win this season, beating Grand Canyon.
  • Earlier this season at Pac-12 South hosted by ASU, the Sun Devils beat the Wildcats 3-2 for half a point in the Territorial Cup Series. In the all-time series, ASU trails 8-17. 

Ottawa (18-8)

  • The Spirit made it to the finals of the GSAC Beach Volleyball Championships last weekend, falling 4-1 to Vanguard.
