U.S. Women’s Sitting National Team athletes found inspiration from the athletes who came before them and now hope to lead the next generation. National Girls and Women in Sports Day began in 1987 to honor USA Volleyball Olympian Flo Hyman for her athletic achievements and dedication to promoting equality for women’s sports. Hyman died of Marfan’s Syndrome in 1986.
